Caribbean Red Habanero - Pepper Pthursday

So, you know by now that we love super hot peppers, but sometimes we grow less destructive peppers as well. This isn’t one of them. The Caribbean Red Habanero isn’t quite like the Orange Habaneros you can pick up at the store. First, these are red. Color isn’t the only difference, they also pack a hotter punch! Ranging all the way up to ~550,000 SHU, the Caribbean Red Habanero comes from the Yucutan Peninsula in Mexico. This pepper is in the Capsicum chinense family and grows to be about 2 to 3 feet tall. The fruits themselves are a little under 2 inches in length and about an inch wide. They go from green to red, hitting a period of time where they end up being orange, but wait for that sweet heat to hit in the red phase before picking them. Excited for this one to blow me up later in the year.
